THE CHALLENGE

A long-time client, ready for more.

I built the Kauai Roastery store years ago, and it had done its job. But Google wasn't showing their coffees the way it shows bigger brands, with price, shipping and returns right in the results.

The design had started to feel dated, and mobile shoppers got no sign that anything had landed in their cart. They had to open the menu to find it.

Then a hurricane hit Kauai and local foot traffic dropped, which made online orders matter more than ever. So I went back through the whole site with fresh eyes.

THE APPROACH

Fix the foundation, then refresh.

I started with what Google sees. Every coffee and tea got structured product data with a price for each bag size, shipping rates, delivery times and the return policy. I rewrote page titles and descriptions, cleaned up indexing, and kept a private wholesale blend out of search.

Then I refreshed the look with a warmer palette, alternating section colors and a cleaner shop layout. On phones, shoppers now get a pop-up that shows exactly what they added, and checkout has an Edit cart link so they can change an order without starting over.

WHAT I DELIVERED

Built to show up and sell.

Everything runs on the WooCommerce store the roastery already knew, so there was nothing new for the team to learn.

Product Search Data

Price, shipping, delivery time and returns for every coffee and tea. All seven merchant listings pass Google's checks.

Warmer, Cleaner Design

A refreshed palette, alternating sections and a tighter shop layout that lets the coffee lead.

Add-to-Cart Confirmation

A pop-up shows the item, size and grind, with Checkout and Keep shopping right there. On phones it slides up from the bottom.

Edit Cart at Checkout

Customers can change their order right from checkout instead of starting over.

Post-Hurricane Social

A tasting notes series, a French press reel and comment replies kept the community engaged during the recovery.

Google Business Profile

Products added and hours corrected, so the listing matches what's actually in the shop.

WHERE IT STANDS

Early signs, with more to come.

This project is still in progress. Search results take months to settle, and the hurricane cut visitor traffic right as the changes went live. I'll share the full numbers once there's a clean 90 days to compare.

Updated October 2026

The first signal is in product search. In the four weeks after the product data went live, Google showed the roastery's products in rich results nearly three times as often as the four weeks before.
