KP Lihue
A mobile-first website refresh for the restaurant where Italian food on Kauai began, with real HTML menus and one file that drives everything.
A great restaurant, hiding behind an old site.
KP Lihue has been a client since the Kauai Pasta days, and the site had drifted. The lunch and dinner menus were photographs of the printed menus. Guests on phones had to pinch and zoom to read a price, and Google couldn't read them at all.
The homepage still announced a move that happened years ago. Fifty-plus pages, old plugins and three generations of menu uploads were sitting in WordPress.
The owner is busy running the restaurant. He updates menus seasonally and wants a PDF he can print, but he doesn't want to touch the website.

Mobile first, menus first.
Most of this site's traffic is someone standing on Rice Street or sitting at the airport deciding where to eat. So every screen was designed at phone width before desktop, with a sticky Menus, Call and Directions bar, big tap targets, and menus laid out as a readable list with the price on the right.
The site stays on the client's existing WordPress hosting, so there was no migration and no new bill. But the four public pages are plain templates in a custom child theme. They print clean HTML and never load the page builder, so nothing drifts, nothing breaks when the builder updates, and page weight is measured in kilobytes.
Four pages, built to last.
Home, Menus, Our Story and Visit & Contact. No page-builder bloat, and live in a weekend.
Real HTML Menus
Lunch and dinner on one page with sticky tabs and jump links. Prices are text that Google can read and show, not a scanned photo.
One Source of Truth
A single data file drives the web menus, the homepage previews, the printable PDFs and the search data. Next season, we edit one file and everything updates together.
Printable PDF Menus
A small script turns the same file into branded lunch and dinner PDFs, so the owner still gets the paper menu he likes.
A Tighter Brand System
A refined tricolor mark that repeats above every page title, Montserrat and Raleway, deep charcoal, warm off-white, and Italian red and green used sparingly.
Local Search Built In
Restaurant and Menu structured data on every page, descriptive titles, link previews, and redirects from every old URL.
Housekeeping
Unused themes and plugins removed, 56 legacy pages retired, and a child theme so future updates can't touch the custom work.

Live in a weekend, easy for years.
The owner saw the new site and approved it the same weekend. Seasonal menu updates went from re-photographing and re-uploading scans to editing one file, and the whole site works one-handed on a phone, with call, directions and menus always one tap away.
Launched October 2026
New photography is on the way to replace the placeholder dish shots, and I'll be watching how the menus show up in search now that Google can finally read them.
